When activated and enabled through the extension icon (or by pressing Ctrl-Shift-O), select a text field and begin typing (an indicator should appear top right of the text field to let you know it's working), any sequences in your text matching the umlaut phrases will be converted to umlaut characters once you stop typing and wait 2 seconds.
