Summary
Block or only allow pages that meet customisable URL filters to stop users from breaking out of predefined pages on your kiosk. Filters support filtering by protocol, domain, path, and even query string. Filters even support regular expressions allowing for a great amount of flexibility to suit your filter needs. Not only can you define filters 'locally', filters may be defined via policies as well, such as in policies.json. There are also inbuilt options to block requests that return "content-disposition: attachment" headers, helping to prevent file downloads, and can also block pages that don't return a standard text/html MIME type, further preventing pages from potentially breaking out of the intended view. NB: This addon is designed to compliment Firefox's in built kiosk mode and a well configured policies.json file, it is not intended to be a standalone solution. It does not block popups on it's own nor can it fully prevent downloads if the site does something that bypasses the configured filters.
Safety
Risk impact
Kiosk Page Blocker requires a number of risky permissions that can potentially harm your browser and steal your data. Exercise caution when installing this add-on. Review carefully before installing. We recommend that you only install Kiosk Page Blocker if you trust the publisher.
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypass your security settings, and access your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
Risk likelihood
Kiosk Page Blocker is probably trust-worthy. Prefer other publishers if available. Exercise caution when installing this add-on.
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Browser Add-ons, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on, especially ones with higher risk impact and/or higher risk likelihood.
