Summary
This addon protects your privacy by preventing short link services from tracking you. - Access short links for you to prevent the short link providers to track you - Check links against a blacklist to prevent access to a harmful website hidden behind a short link - Remove known tracking parameters from the urls behind the short links (e.g. the facebook tracking parameter utm_source) - Remove as many url parameters as possible by keeping the same website result. This helps to remove tracking parameters that are so far unknown If you experience a short link service that is not yet supported by this plugin, please enter the short link manually on unshort.link and after the redirect restart your browser. The new short link service will now be automatically added to the plugin. Please be aware that for being able to provide you that functionality the short links have to be send to our server (unshort.link). Only urls with the domains listed on unshort.link/providers are send to us all the other ones you access stay on your machine only and are never transmitted. --- Icon made by Freepik
Safety
Risk impact
Unshort.link requires a number of risky permissions that can potentially harm your browser and steal your data. Exercise caution when installing this add-on. Review carefully before installing. We recommend that you only install Unshort.link if you trust the publisher.
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypass your security settings, and access your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
Risk likelihood
Unshort.link has earned a fairly good reputation and likely can be trusted.
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Browser Add-ons, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on, especially ones with higher risk impact and/or higher risk likelihood.
