Bookmark Detector is a small and simple Firefox add-on that prevents the creation of duplicate bookmarks. It automatically checks for duplicate bookmarks with the same URL and removes them, providing a notification. The add-on is designed to enhance bookmark organization and prevent clutter in your bookmark collection.

A small and simple extension to avoid the creation of duplicate bookmarks. If a bookmark is created, it will check for others with the same* url created earlier. When at least one is found, it will remove the freshly created bookmark and show a notification about it. On/Off switch is provided (resets on browser restart).
*URLs differ only after the '#' symbol are assumed to be identical, therefore it removes a bookmark referring to a(nother) label on a page that have already been bookmarked.
The reason for creating this extension is that the good old 'Bookmark Duplicate Detector' has became unusable after the Quantum update.
I don't know how to activate it, maybe it only works when adding new bookmarks? There is one thing i would like, I can't find it anywhere.
it is a bookmark addon that goes through all your bookmarks and tells you first which ones work and which ones don't, because some bookmarks I've had for more than 20 years and they don't work anymore, only going through 500+ is a hassle to remove individually.
Perhaps this could give option to auto search all bookmarks and in the background test them out to see if they are working or now malicious links instead. Testing if they not only work but if they are malicious links or not?
