ConsistentHTTPS

ConsistentHTTPS

Prevents going accidentally from secure HTTPS version of a site to unsecure HTTP version of the same site.

What is ConsistentHTTPS?
ConsistentHTTPS is a Firefox add-on that automatically replaces HTTP with HTTPS in links and forms, preventing accidental switching to unsecure versions of the same site. It relies on the HTTP(S) protocol to determine if a site supports HTTPS.

Summary

Caution: the extension does not prevent opening a site via HTTP and does nothing if the site is opened via HTTP and not via HTTPS. It is not an equivalent of addons like HTTPS Everywhere.

Automatically replaces the http protocol with the https in links and forms that lead to pages of the same site (optionally including its subdomains).

The extension does not use any predefined URL databases and solely relies on the fact of opening the current page via the HTTPS protocol that guarantees the site supports HTTPS.

Unobtrusive, does what it is supposed to do (keeping subdomains into the HTTPS ring whenever possible) and it does so without fuzz. Thanks for sharing, developer!. You help us save time and make the world a better place.

I just have 1 question: How this addon really works to determine if the connection is secure? Because I tested it in some HTTP sites and still unsecure, how this addon protects you or what it protects? I tested this other addon "HTTP Already", and if the site has HTTP protocol, blocks the site and doesn't let you to connect until you click on the addon, close the tab and then open the HTTP site again. Besides the description of this addon, could you be more explicit please? Now I have a better idea, thank you.

What a great idea. Consistent HTTPS works so awesome also on my husband computer. Usually he never pays attention if a site is secure or not. Your add- on is awesome for people that forget to check....
