Duplicate Tab

Duplicate Tab

Duplicates the current tab from keyboard shortcuts or when you click the icon Source, issues: https://github.com/Skeletonxf/duplicate-tab/

What is Duplicate Tab?
"Duplicate Tab" is a Firefox extension that enables you to clone your active tab using a keyboard shortcut or by clicking the icon. It eliminates steps like copying and pasting the URL into a new tab. While it provides a unique keyboard shortcut for the users, it warns that Firefox's default keyboard shortcuts may override it. The add-on is adapted for future API availability in Android and it allows tab duplication via button or right-click menu even after Firefox introduced a default duplication option. Helpful for productivity, the source and issues can be given feedback to at its GitHub page.

Summary

No more CTRL+L CTRL+C CTRL+T CTRL+V to get your tab open a second time!

Just use ALT+SHIFT+D to duplicate your current tab.

Shortcuts can clash with default Firefox shortcuts unfortunately, in which case Firefox's shortcut will take priority and your custom one will not work. Shortcuts can be customised at the about:addons url.

With Firefox 57 released in 2017 a duplicate tab menu option on the tab menu was added by default. You can still use the button or tab right click menu from this addon to duplicate tabs. Configuring this add on's switch focus will not affect the default Firefox duplicate menu option.

Please note that most functionality is not possible on Android at the moment due to limitations in Android's APIs (no keyboard shortcuts). Duplicate Tab is written so that if the APIs become available in later releases then the features should automatically become usable without an update to Duplicate Tab needed.

NB: Version 3.0 of Duplicate Tab migrates to manifest version 3, which at the time of writing also introduces an annoying dot indicator to the add-on icon in the browser UI. If this is annoying you can disable automatic updates and/or install version 2.3 explicitly https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/duplicate_tab/versions/ which is not affected by this issue.
