Easy Unicode Input - Quick and Easy Use of Unicode Characters

Easy Unicode Input is an add-on for Firefox that enables users to easily type Unicode characters not available on their keyboard. By using a 4-digit hexadecimal code, users can quickly insert any character from the Basic Multilingual Plane. The extension works by triggering the Unicode input with the keyboard shortcut Control+' and inserting the desired character at the text cursor. Please note that the add-on may not function correctly in EMAIL input fields.

Add-on summary

Most websites do not give you an easy way to type characters that aren't on your keyboard. With this extension you can add any unicode character in the Basic Multilingual Plane (0000–FFFF) provided that the font you are using supports it. To enter a character use the keyboard shortcut to trigger the extension and then type the 4-digit hexadecimal code for the character you want. The character will then be inserted where your text cursor is.

The keyboard shortcut is Control+' to trigger Unicode input.

Known Issue: Easy Unicode Input does not work properly where an INPUT field type is defined as EMAIL.

How to use this add-on: 1. You make sure your cursor is in a text input box inside the window – not the address bar or search bar. 2. You press and hold the Ctrl. key. 3. While Ctrl. key is pressed, you hit the apostrophe key ['] – not the backtick (grave accent) key [`] 4. You punch the keys corresponding to the Unicode of your character. Example. If you want to type "CO₂", you type: 1. [SHIFT+C] to input capital letter C 2. [SHIFT+O] to input capital letter O 3. [CTRL+'] to activate Unicode input 4. 2082 to input the Unicode of subscript two Note: this add-on does not work in the "Write a review" window or in YouTube comments (but it works in YouTube search field). The author seems to not care about the shortcomings of this add-on.
