"Fake-Shop Detector" is a Firefox add-on dedicated to ensuring secure online shopping. This tool acts in real-time, vetting websites for potential risk via an expert-curated database of trustworthy and fraudulent sites. Unknown sites undergo AI analysis. Red, yellow, green and grey indicators signify high risk, unclear result, very low risk and non-store sites respectively. Operated by ÖIAT, AIT, and X-NET, it supports user privacy by not storing private data.

The Fake-Shop Detector warns you in time about fraudulent offers, directly in your internet browser.
- Free of charge and in real-time
- Does not store private data
- Available for Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and all Chromium browsers
The Fake-Shop Detector checks every visited website in two steps: First, it searches an expert-curated database on reputable and fraudulent online stores and websites. If a website is unknown, a real-time analysis by Artificial Intelligence (AI) occurs.
The plugin shows you the result of this check with different colors and icons.
Red: High risk.
Yellow: No clear result.
Green: Very low risk.
Grey: No online store, plugin still working, deactivated.
For a tool that claims to protect us I find the lack of use of proper translation into at least the Common Internet Esperanto (aka English) concerning, of the information given on here but also of the site behind the plugin. I tested a few webshops via the site and find it equally concerning that listings are non substantiated about what's wrong and why. They could as well have been made by unhappy competition.
Finally, the EULA for the plugin (which *is* in English, thankfully) indicates that using this plugin to the fullest means your browsing behaviour will be logged and I strongly suspect with enough metadata to keep tracking you even when you activate a VPN.
This logging is on Austrian servers. Austria may be a EU country, but given its political history of the past decade(s) and its ties with Russia I do NOT them with my data.
