What is German dictionary (de_DE)?
The 'German dictionary (de_DE)' is a Firefox add-on designed for the newer versions of Firefox, Thunderbird, and Seamonkey. This add-on provides an optimized German spell check function. It uses the Hunspell version of the igerman98 dictionary, which is not compatible with Myspell. Therefore, it only works with the newer versions of Mozilla products. Legacy versions should use older versions of the dictionary add-on.

DICTIONARY SUPPORT: Only WebExtension dictionaries are supported now. Please download new dictionaries from addons.mozilla.org since addons.thunderbird.net still provides "legacy" dictionaries compatible with Thunderbird 60 ESR. This may change as soon as Thunderbird 60 ESR can also handle WebExtension dictionaries (planned for version 60.5).
