Summary
This extension allows you to save a link to a web page.

The available formats are:
- .desktop (Desktop Entry)
- .URL (Internet Shortcut)
- .webloc (Website Location)

There are already 2 other extensions that do the same thing: "deskCut" et "SaveLink".
The main differences with the latter are:
- Manual choice of formats.
- Preservation of the original name (only with the .desktop format).
- This is a "no restart" extension.

Note: On Windows, files are treated as if they were downloaded and must be unblocked.
Safety
Risk impact

lcwmcfpon requires very minimum permissions and is relatively safe to use.

Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypass your security settings, and access your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Risk likelihood

lcwmcfpon has earned a fairly good reputation and likely can be trusted.

Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Browser Add-ons, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on, especially ones with higher risk impact and/or higher risk likelihood.

I can't get this to work. I'm on Windows, latest Firefox. Everytime I right-click and select "Create .url link", I get the error message "Filename must not contain illegal characters". Config options were vanilla (unchanged from defaults). For good measure, I clicked "Reset options", still not working. I experimented with any config option that looked like it might fix it, but no luck. The page URLs I was experimenting with were simple, such as https://www.virtualcreations.com.au
