Summary
Not all page transitions can be blocked. This mainly blocks page transitions when a link is clicked with the mouse. This add-on does not work on special pages such as addons.mozilla.org

When a browser's back, forward, or reload button is clicked or a tab is about to be closed, a dialog box can be displayed on the web page asking the user to confirm whether or not to leave the page. However, this feature also displays a dialog box when you try to quit the browser. Also, for this to work, you have to do something with the page after it's displayed. For example, click once on the page with the mouse. If no operation is performed, the dialog box will not be displayed. If this function is disabled, the navigation to about:
