Summary 
One thing that’s a bit of a hassle with Mastodon is that you can’t immediately follow people on other instances: you have to copy the username and search for it on the instance that hosts your account.

To make this easier, I’ve created a little extension. Press the button, and you’ll be taken to the same account as viewed from the masto instance you are on.Shows the current Mastodon Profile from your Mastodon instance.

Pretty much exactly what I was looking for and works great, although I think it would be even nicer for a redirect button to be inserted into foreign instances' interfaces, instead of having to click the extension's toolbar icon.
