Middle Click To Go Back

Default actions stay as usual. You can still "open the link in new tab" or "close tab" with middle-click. But now middle-click on an empty space on page to go back. In options, you can set middle-click to close the tab if no page to go back.

2021-07-05 supermelon this is actual life saver on Gnome 40, where Firefox refuses to use touchpad to navigate back/forth. I'd still prefer two finger sliding to navigate, but till it's broken, this extension is a bless.
2019-12-28 Benjy Please can the devs update this extension? Firefox 70 (released on 22nd October) broke the extension so that middle click now closes the tab even when there are still pages to go back in the back/forwards history. I've given it a couple of months (it's now late December), so I might have to remove this and look at mouse drivers instead. A pity because I've used Middle Click To Go Back for about 10 years now.

2019-04-01 hannesd When you click on a link in Firefox 66 it both opens the link and goes back in the current tab. But this happens only on some websites, e.g. https://www.hofer.at/de/angebote/ab-montag-01042019/

2018-04-24 George hi, have been using this for some time. Have a problem with firefox 60.0b14 beta update. When I go back if it lands on a link it opens 3 new windows. OK on release version.
2018-04-14 Gammadeus The basic conception was great, and it works properly. But the 5.0 version has some bugs. The worst thing is, that it never close a tab without previous history if only you fill the checkbox at its setup site. And this step have to be done after every restart, because without this function Firefox forgot about this previous setting. I wrote a letter to the author month ago, and I got an answer, but it wasn't any seeable progression / development from that time on the addon. Now has exactly the same issue than then. I use it on Waterfox, too, but with the previous version, because it is better, then tha last WE-version (5.0). Unfortunately I use Firefox 59, too. So there I can't use the 4.2 version (as at Waterfox, which is based on Firefox 56, I can), but only the WE-based 5.0 version. On the other hand, it is a great addon, I used it from the beginnings. So I hope it will be corrected/ repaired very soon . Best regards, Gammadeus
