Multi-touch Zoom Add-on for Firefox: Smooth Zooming Experience

'Multi-touch Zoom' is a Firefox extension that enhances your browsing experience by implementing a smoother zooming feature. It is specifically designed for trackpad users to zoom using a pinch gesture, providing a user experience similar to Chrome and Safari. However, non-multi-touch users are not left out, as they can smoothly zoom by scrolling while holding the SHIFT key. This add-on requires Firefox 55 or above and may not work on certain pages where addons are disabled.

Add-on summary

Update: Native smooth zoom is starting to appear in newer Firefox builds. Try enabling it by going to about:config in the url and setting apz.allow_zooming to true. If that works for you then you don't need to use this plugin :)

This extension adds support for smooth zooming with the pinch gesture on a trackpad. It's been designed to match the behavior of Chrome and Safari.

Make sure all the "browser.gesture.pinch" settings in about:config have been reset to empty, otherwise it wont work properly

GitHub user QWERTYUIOPYOZO has recently developed Windows touchscreen support, please test it out and leave feedback on GitHub :)

Non-multi-touch users can still smooth zoom by scrolling and holding down the SHIFT

Zoom can be reset by pressing and 0 on macOS or CTRL and 0 on Windows

User reviews
Three and not one star ONLY because I don't want to kill this extension rating (given all the effort put into this project, as seen on the github). However, this extension doesn't work currently (firefox v118.0.2) and apparently hasn't for a long time already. It's a shame, we were this close to having such an important tool. Hope the project will be forked and fixed one day !
