What is NekoCap?
NekoCap is a Firefox add-on that enables users to view, create, and share community captions for YouTube videos and other supported sites. With the easy-to-use editor, you can create captions in any language and export them to various formats. Join the NekoCap community and help improve captions while browsing your favorite video streaming sites. This open-source extension supports SSA/ASS rendering and offers advanced effects for captions. Discover NekoCap's features, including loading and tweaking externally created captions, giving thumbs up or down, and more. Join the Discord community for questions and feedback. Contribute to NekoCap's development on GitHub. Please note that community captions may not reflect the video creator's intent, and NekoCap and the video creator are not responsible for content in community-contributed captions.

  • View community contributed captions made in NekoCap with the extension while browsing YouTube & other supported sites
  • View captions with cool, advanced effects (WIP, for Substation Alpha [SSA/ASS] captions only)

Create

  • Create captions in any language in the browser with the NekoCap editor while watching videos
  • Load and tweak externally created captions (SSA, ASS, SRT, VTT, SBV files are supported)
  • Export captions created with the editor to SRT (other formats coming soon)

Share

  • Submit your captions to the NekoCap server so that other NekoCap users can easily see them while browsing supported sites
  • Give captions a thumbs up or down to let others know how accurate they are
