Open Link Directly (No Redirect)
Avoids the URL redirection on websites like Google/Yahoo and instead quietly opens the real links directly to help with speed and privacy, as it'd avoid redirection delays/potential ads/stats collection. NOTE: NOT for Android!!
What is Open Link Directly (No Redirect)?
Open Link Directly (No Redirect) is a Firefox add-on that bypasses URL redirection on search engines like Google and Yahoo. It opens real links directly, eliminating delays and safeguarding privacy.
NOTE: This addon is NOT for Android!!
Search results on Yahoo and Google always wrapped original URL into a redirect like (https://research.yahoo.com/...&url=OriginalURL...), this causes a delay in opening the original url and a loss of privacy. Google recently implemented a covert redirect - if you mouseover links, you see original url, but when you click on it, Google changes the URL to a redirect url onmousedown, so when the link gets opened, it's the redirect URL that gets opened, again delaying opening the original url and losing privacy.
This addon is designed to defeat these simple forms of redirect (any url with something like http(s)://... in unescaped or escaped forms will be unwrapped) and open the unwrapped url directly. If the link itself has a target="_blank", then this addon opens url in new tab, otherwise if you left click on it, it opens in current tab (unless ). If you shift click, opens in a new window. Ctrl-click opens in new tab.
BTW the unwrapping and launching url is done totally transparently. No fuss is made about this trivial task being performed. :)
Open Link Directly (No Redirect) may not be safe to use and it requires some risky permissions. Exercise caution when installing this add-on. Review carefully before installing.
Open Link Directly (No Redirect) has earned a fairly good reputation and likely can be trusted.
