Add-on summary

This small extension gives you the posibility to load a certain bib file from your pc and then have an extra dropdown menu in overleaf community edition to select the authors from that bib file. To open the special dropdown menu with the bib-authors you have to hit ctrl-space and then click on the author, it will automaticly enter \cite{YOURAUTHOR}.

Also you have the possibilty to setup a trigger that automaticlly jumps into the citefilter box and then you can directly filter for your cite entry. When you hit enter inside the citefilter box it will automaticly enter the first selected entry into your tex file. I added this, so that you can use it without using the mouse. But you can turn it off, if you want to go for the overleaf commands, but this you can also open by hitting \ and there is this plugin not activ.

User reviews

If one installs Overleaf from the repository on a computer, the auto-complete functionality is not included, although it works in the free version provided online by the company (but with other limited functionalities for those not having a paid subscription). For this reason, this add-on is extremely useful for those researchers who rely on LaTex for their work and prefer to use it via Overleaf, while not being able to afford paying a subscription (I know several cases, affecting especially PhD students).
