Summary
Open the extension's options either by opening the list of extensions, clicking the cog icon and then clicking "manage extension". Then select the options tab. You can also get there through Settings > Extensions & Themes, then clicking the add-on and selecting the options tab.
In this tab you can use the export history button to download a data.json file containing all of your history. The other button can be used in another firefox instance to select a file to import history from.
User reviews
Nice add-on. I tried to export histories and it works well. But I didn't import with generated data.json file for one question: **will my current histories be overwritten when importing?** I want to merge my current histories with histories in data.json. Hope for your reply.
REPLY:
Thank for the description added,
and your (very fast) reply.
And i understand you don't investigate more for Waterfox Classic.
Maybe you can add in the description that the export button work too if we don't select a file:
In this case it export the history of the browser profile where the addon is installed.
And if we select an other file, it do the export from it...
I tested to use the Normal Export from the History widows of Waterfox Classic(a .json file),
and import it to Quantum:
Same results..
But it import too my Bookmarks folder (which i don't need).
Your extension import just the history, which i wanted.
But stay the visited links problem:
Maybe a cookies thing ?
Old Review:
Thank for this tool!
Not for all day use, but a time saver when we need it, for sure.
I tested to move my History from Waterfox Classic to Firefox Quantum.
Before, for the test, i deleted all the history of my Firefox Quantum.
A - Into the Option panel of your extension
- Select the "formhistory.sqlite" from my Waterfox Classic profile.
- Do an export (Obtain an "data.json" in my Download folder).
B - Open My FireFox Quantum.
- Select the previous "data.json",
- Click to the import button.
After a quick time, seems working fine!
Small problem:
I notice if the pages from my Waterfox are in the new history,
inside them, their links visited are not highlighting, like i expected.
For info, I keep my Browsing History and have a CSS for that.
My Request /questions:
1 - It's normal or i need to do something more?
2 - Maybe there are an incompatibility between Waterfox Classic and Quantum?
Another request:
For info too:
The Export seems not work with your extension installed in Waterfox Classic,
But for Waterfox to Quantum, all can be done in Quantum...
