Text 2 Speech is a Firefox extension (add-on) developed by AUDU LUCY IKANI, a Post-Graduate student of University of Abuja, Nigeria. It adds text-to-speech functionality to Firefox. Text 2 Speech (TTS) uses iSpeech's human-quality text-to-speech (TTS) to read any selected text in the browser. It includes many text to speech voices in different languages. You can configure the voice options by changing the settings on the options page. It also contains indigenous language of the Nigerian "YORUBA". One other interesting feature of this Text 2 Speech extension is that One just needs to select text, right click on the selected text and click on "Convert Text to Speech" from the pop up menu options icon and this add-on will speaks the selected text. The audio file can also be downloaded as MP3 file.
