What is Unicode Keyboard?
Unicode Keyboard is a Firefox add-on that provides a keyboard-navigable input panel for searching and inputting Unicode characters. It allows users to search by character name, code block, and general category, making it easier to find and input specific characters. The add-on also supports a latex shorthand input mode for text areas.
The addon provides a simple, keyboard-oriented way to search for and input characters from the raw Unicode Character Database by their official names (such as "SURFACE INTEGRAL"), code blocks (e.g. "Math_Operators") and general character categories ("Sm", i.e. Symbol, Math).
Additionally it can directly substitute a small subset of latex syntax with equivalent unicode character sequences while you type.
Note that this is not a specialized emoji input, while it is easy to enter the basic emoji there currently is no special support for the composite sequences.
Unicode Keyboard is risky to use as it requires a number of sensitive permissions that can potentially harm your browser and steal your data. Exercise caution when installing this add-on. Review carefully before installing. We recommend that you only install Unicode Keyboard if you trust the publisher.
Unicode Keyboard has earned a fairly good reputation and likely can be trusted.
