Watchmarker for Youtube

Automatically mark videos on Youtube that you have already watched.

Watchmarker for Youtube: Track & Mark Watched Videos

Watchmarker for Youtube is a Firefox addon designed to keep track and mark videos on Youtube that you've watched, surpassing Youtube's short term recent watch marking. The database can be manually synchronized, ensuring its completeness, and the users can create database backups to establish its permanence. Although it's only compatible with Youtube's new theme, it offers a robust and efficient solution to tracking your Youtube history.

Add-on summary

Youtube keeps track of your watch history and automatically marks videos that you have already watched. They however only mark recently seen videos, which is kind of disappointing. This addon fixes this issue and keeps track of your entire watch history, such that not only the recently seen videos are being marked.

Does this work with the old Youtube theme? I am afraid that only the new theme is supported. If you do not know which theme you are currently using then it is very likely the new one.

How can the persistence of the database be ensured? There is an export and import feature, which makes it easy to create a backup of the history. This backup can easily be archived such that you can ensure that you never lose your history.

How can I make sure that the database is complete? The automatic synchronization only considers the recent activity. You are thus encouraged to manually initiate a complete synchronization in the settings, which incorporates as much of your history as possible.

Something is broken, I demand a fix! Please be considerate when leaving a review, this is a free extension that I invest my spare time in. If there is something that does not work then please file an issue on Github where it is easier for me to track.

Very good addon but there is one issue i keep facing which is watch history reset time to time. It is getting reset time to time and i dont know why. I started to look for replacement just because of this.

This extension is great because you never click on a video that you have already seen. One thing that is not true is that it only works with the new YouTube user interface. Since YouTube changed the user interface, I've been using the YouTube Redux extension to get the old user interface back. I just don't like the fact that the comments are now on the right and there are suggestions for other videos below the video. The Watchmaker extension works perfectly with the YouTube Redux extension and everything runs smoothly, and I haven't noticed any problems. The YouTube Redux extension forces the previous user interface.

Great concept, but ultimately too many false positives for watched videos, even after adjusting the settings a few times. An in-browser "mark un-played" button would be helpful, as it is removing play marks from a text-only list is more work than it's worth for me. Edit to add: Actually an option to have the extension mark a video as played only when the progress bar hits a certain threshold (100%, 95%, etc) would be ideal
