Auto Pause|Stop for YouTube™ is a Firefox add-on that automatically pauses or stops YouTube videos from playing. It provides options to pause, stop, or keep normal playback mode, and works with both HTML5 and Flash players. It also allows you to change the toolbar icon and is compatible with ad-blockers for YouTube.

Add-on summary
Auto Pause|Stop for YouTube™ allows you to automatically pause or stop YouTube videos from playing.
Some features:
- Allows you to automatically pause (P) or stop (S) YouTube videos from playing.
- Allows you to NOT change YouTube playback behavior by choosing normal (N) mode.
- Easily switch the player mode from toolbar popup.
- YouTube Auto Pause, pauses YouTube videos but LOADING the video will still continues.
- YouTube Auto Stop, stops YouTube videos and LOADING the video will NOT continue (this option is good if you want to save the bandwidth).
- Works with YouTube HTML5 and Flash players.
- Has the option to change toolbar-icon when you modify YouTube playback mode.
Note 1: for YouTube video with advertisement at the beginning, the addon may not work properly. In this situation, please install an ad-blocker for YouTube.

I absolutely love this extension. Nothing annoyed me more than being unable to pause a YouTube video for at least 5 seconds, the video playing automatically, even if there was no visuals, all because the platform is so unoptimized. This completely fixed that problem! The one thing that would make it perfect is if k / spacebar also worked to resume the video after the autopause.
