2022-10-28 | danuker | This is the easiest to use scraper, in spite of being incomplete. It is simply ingenious: SelectorGadget to highlight what you need, and various options to choose the data from the selected elements. You can not export data that easily, since this extension is incomplete, but if you are in picker/"wand" mode, and select the first data item in the "Data" section below, then you can hold Shift+Down arrow in order to select all the rows (for... a while, because you can't see what you selected off the screen), then Ctrl+C and Ctrl+Shift+V into a spreadsheet program (I use LibreOffice). I am thankful for this script; it is much easier to use than a Python scraper which I'd otherwise use. Even the hack above is much faster than having to go to-from the website and the Python script, to check the results. But I'd wish the "Data" panel would be scrollable for easier selection, or for the extracted data to be in a textarea instead of the divs with class="value". I also appreciate the fact that it makes no network requests. Thank you for allowing local work without phoning home. The storage and management of selectors per website also goes a long way in remembering them!

2018-05-26 | Firefox user 14055622 | Most webscraping GUIs are poorly designed, and ScrapeMate Beta is no different. There's no apparent way to save, export or publish the results of a scrape. You can, though, stare at the output for a while before closing the tab and deleting the extension.
